HDI exhibition tip: “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met is always worth a visit, no matter what exhibit is on view. We can spend an entire day walking the grand halls of the museum and discovering new things that we may not have seen in the past. One exhibition that we knew is a must see is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” at the Costume Institute. This spectacular show is examining the work of fashion designer Rei Kawakubo, known for her avant-garde designs and ability to challenge conventional notions of beauty, good taste, and fashionability. There are approximately 140 examples of Kawakubo’s womenswear for Comme des Garçons dating from the early 1980s to her most recent collection and the Met did a wonderful show highlighting these avant-garde works. We can highly recommend a visit, the show is on view until September 4th. Have a great summer and let us know your favorite exhibits around town or beyond.
