HDI Exhibition tip: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” Met Cloisters
Back in New York and so much to see here as well. On top of our list was and always is the The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition. This year, the show is entitled “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” and is exhibited at the Met on Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters. This stunning exhibition features a dialogue between fashion and medieval art from The Met collection to examine fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism. For the first time the Cloisters is part of the display and what a spectacular back drop it is. We love the serenity of the Cloisters and the religious setting couldn’t be more perfect for the show. It is such a treat to go uptown and visit The Cloisters and even more so now with “Heavenly Bodies” on view. Don’t miss if you are in New York and leave some time to enjoy the courtyards and Fort Tyron park. For lunch we recommend the “New Leaf” restaurant steps away from The Cloisters. Enjoy!
