HDI Exhibition Tip: “LA Blacksmith” at the California African American Museum, Los Angeles, CA
We so enjoyed the incredible “LA Blacksmith” exhibition at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles (CAAM) The show focuses on work in metal by black artists from Los Angeles made in the last few decades. The incredible work on view highlights the historic and symbolic significance, as well as the sociocultural, political, and practical considerations. For more information click here.
CAAM’s permanent collection consists of over 4,000 objects ranging from the 1800s to the present. It encompasses paintings, photographs, film, sculpture, historical documents, and artifacts, and it spans nineteenth-century landscape paintings to modern artworks to contemporary mixed-media reflections on cultural and political events.
