Valenza, a small city in the Piedmont region of Italy boasts the highest number of artisan gold and jewelry businesses in the country. Our very talented friend, jeweler, sculptor and artist Lisa Sotilis currently shows her incredible work at the exhibition entitled “Gioielli d’artista” in Valenza. The show was curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and takes place at the Villa Scalcabarozzi until August 2nd, 2015. The exhibition was officially presented in Milan, at the showroom of Damiani. “Gioielli d’artista” is divided into three parts: the history of jewelery, the tools and artisan studio of a goldsmith of the early twentieth century and some of the best creations of artisans from Valenza, a selection of wonderful jewels from the House Damiani and a collection of more than fifty pieces of jewelry made by modern and contemporary artists, some never exhibited, selected by Vittorio Sgarbi. We really enjoyed touring the beautiful Villa Scalcabarozzi with Lisa Sotilis and getting a glimpse into the rich history of artisan gold in this region. Lisa’s exuberant, expressionistic and wildly creative jewels were the star attraction! We hope you enjoy our pictures!
